14A-Halfway Reflection

1. The behaviors that I have used in this course to keep up with all of the work is to make a schedule and be organized. There are many assignments and if you are not careful you will easily miss one. You have to be ready to work and keep moving forward. You also need to be focused in what you are doing and ready to achieve success in order to get the grade you want and deserve. I have used all of these behaviors to assist me so far.

2. The only time I felt like giving up is when the workload seemed to become overwhelming. With all of the lectures and the amount of assignments it seemed like quite the task. I've developed more of a tenacious attitude. I've always been the type of person to finish what I start and this course has helped me to continue with that type of personality trait. Focusing on the lectures and the material has really helped me with developing this attitude. The lectures are not short and they require your attention and a lot of note taking. It is easy to want to pause a lecture and go off and do something else and that is when your attitude kicks in and you push through knowing that in the long run this is all going to be beneficial.

3. Three tips I would give a student who will be taking this course next semester is one, do not give up. This class is going to seem like a lot of work and it is but if you put in the effort you will find that you learn a lot and it is really a fun experience. Second, make sure to make a schedule of how you want to get assignments completed throughout the week. This will help you not become overwhelmed and make it easier for you to stay on top of all the assignments. Third, come into the class with the mindset that you will get an A. If you already know that you want to succeed then that is going to help you stay tenacious. If you come in doubting the course or yourself then you are setting your mindset up for failure and you will not be able to keep up with the workload. Follow through with each assignment and lecture and you will most certainly come out of this course with knowledge and skills that can last a lifetime.

  1. Garrett,
I absolutely loved that you thought to add a picture. What a hilarious and creative idea. I also thought your advice was very insightful. It is easy to become discouraged at the amount of assignments in this class but if you persevere and don't give up it really is not too bad. I also think organization plays a big role in succeeding in any class. Good job.

  2. Garrett,
I agree that it is very easy to become overwhelmed by all of the assignments in this class. However, if you stay organized and keep a schedule for yourself, you will be completely fine. I think being organized is vital in life and learning how big of a role it plays in this class is really good for you. Good work.

  3. Hey Garret, your comments in this reflection have given me a time to rethink my own reflection. Your words carry a weight that others seem to not be able to capture, yet it is with such ease in which they flow. I agree that the workload may seem daunting, but it really isn't that bad.

  4. Hey, I felt the same way at the start of this course. The workload seemed overwhelming. However I started planning out my week and I would spread the assignments out so it was not to much all at once. I liked your tip to new students about not giving up. I believe it feels at times like you should, but if you just take a break and come back to the assignment you can get it done.

  5. Hey Garret, your reflection has helped me embrace how to fix myself for the remainder of this class. I have not been up to date on my assignments and I have been slacking because of being unorganized. Through your reflection you have offered perspective on how I can change my outcome in this class.

  6. Hey Garret,
After reading your post I noticed most of our tips and self-reflecting tips were virtually the same. I wish I was able to see someone from last semesters class so I knew what I was coming in to and I could fully prepare myself. Nonetheless I will take my advice (as well as yours) and finish out the end of the semester.
